Fastest Hatchback Car in India

There are a wide variety of cars available in the market. If you are looking for the fastest hatchback car, you do not have to look further. Here is the list of top-selling hatchbacks in India for January 2022. Maruti Suzuki took the top 3 spots in the sales chart in January 2022. Apart from that, it is clear that hatchback sales in the country have taken a small hit.

Hyundai i20

The new-gen Hyundai i20 drops the ‘Elite’ from its name and takes the game forward with its striking looks and many first-in-class features. As before, it is spacious on the inside, but we expected slightly improved material quality especially since everything else has moved up a notch. Nevertheless, with no less than five powertrain choices, there’s an i20 for everyone.

Hyundai i20’s petrol variant is a very powerful hatchback in its segment. It comes in the Hyundai i20 N Line lineup and is priced at ₹ 9.96 Lakhs. It provides a certified mileage given by the company of 20.2 km ph. This car has many variants that come with an engine putting out 118 bhp @ 6000 rpm and 172 Nm @ 1500 rpm of max power and max torque respectively. Hyundai i20 is available in Clutchless Manual transmission and also it has automatic transmission too. It is offered in 4 colors which are Starry Night, Thunder Blue, Titan Grey, and Polar White.

Honda Jazz

The Honda Jazz is the company’s sole hatchback offering in India, competing against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Ford Figo, Hyundai i20, and others. The Jazz is a testament to Honda’s ability to extract maximum interior room in a finite space.

Under the honda, the Jazz hatchback is powered by a BS6 compliant 1.2-liter i-VTEC engine that produces 89bhp of power at 6,000rpm and 110 Nm of torque at 4,800rpm. This engine can be had with either a five-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed CVT option. The CVT variants also get steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. The manual variant returns a fuel efficiency figure of 16.6kmpl, while the CVT variant has a fuel efficiency of 17.1kmpl.

Maruti Suzuki Baleno

The new Maruti Baleno is available in four variants that include Sigma, Delta, Zeta, and Alpha.

The new facelifted Maruti Baleno was launched in India on 23 February 2022.

Powering the new facelifted Maruti Baleno is a 1.2-liter, four-cylinder petrol engine with idle start-stop technology, producing a maximum power output of 89bhp and 113 Nm of torque.

Transmission options include a five-speed manual unit and an AMT unit.

Tata Tiago

Tata Motors has introduced the BS6 compliant Tiago NRG in the country. The model is offered in a single variant and is available exclusively with a 1.2-liter petrol engine.

The updated Tata Tiago NRG is powered by a BS6 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, Revotron petrol engine that is tuned to produce a maximum power output of 84bhp and 113 Nm of torque. This motor is paired to a five-speed manual unit or an AMT unit. The model also boasts of a ground clearance of 181mm, which is 11mm more than the regular Tiago.

Tata Altroz

The Tata Altroz is an extremely well-rounded premium hatchback that will appeal to an even wider range of audiences due to the new turbo petrol engine from the Nexon. Don’t get us wrong, the performance from the 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol engine was just about adequate for city use, but if you needed anything more from it, it just fell short.

The Tata Altroz DCA is powered by a 1.2-liter, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 85bhp at 6,000rpm and 113 Nm of torque at 3,300rpm.

Apart from the new DCA unit, the model is also offered with a five-speed manual unit. Press the engine start-stop button and the Altroz DCA comes to life, with the three-cylinder engine, if you pay close attention, making its presence felt with mild vibrations at idle. The weak bottom-end is distinct, and one has to revive the engine well ahead of the 3,000rpm mark in order to get any momentum. The mid-range is strong, although with the increase in speed, there is a rise in the NVH levels too, and keeping the model in the higher range is something that we wouldn’t prefer.
